Complete Guide to Vegetables for Dogs
Vegetables are an excellent source of fiber, vitamins, and low-calorie crunch for dogs. Carrots, green beans, cucumber, and sweet potatoes (cooked) are all safe and nutritious options that many dogs enjoy. However, vegetables from the allium family — onions, garlic, leeks, and chives — are toxic to dogs and can cause oxidative damage to red blood cells, leading to anemia. Even small amounts of garlic powder, commonly found in seasoned foods, can be dangerous. Always serve vegetables plain (no salt, butter, or seasoning) and cut them into bite-sized pieces to prevent choking. Check any vegetable above before adding it to your dog's bowl.
