Can Cats Eat Peanut Butter (No Xylitol)?
Cats can technically eat a tiny dab of xylitol-free peanut butter without toxicity, but as obligate carnivores they derive little nutritional benefit from plant-based fats and proteins. Some cats find the sticky texture unpleasant, and peanut butter’s high fat content can provoke vomiting or pancreatitis in sensitive individuals. The primary danger remains xylitol, which causes rapid insulin release and life-threatening hypoglycemia in cats. If you choose to offer it, a minuscule amount on a paw for distraction is the only appropriate use, and label scrutiny is non-negotiable.
