Can Birds Eat Tortilla Chips (Salted, Plain Corn)?
Tortilla chips are unsafe for birds. The high salt content can quickly cause kidney failure and neurologic signs in avian species. Fried corn is difficult to digest and may lead to crop stasis, while seasonings like chili, lime, or garlic powder are directly toxic. The jagged edges can lacerate the delicate lining of the crop or mouth. Birds should never be offered any commercially salted chip; the risk far outweighs any possible enjoyment.
